It's time for another trip down Amnesia Lane. My third USMNT game was another qualifier:
February 11, 2009
Columbus Crew Stadium
Columbus OH
2010 FIFA World Cup Qualifier: USA v Mexico
I remember this being a last-minute decision to go to this game; I had to scour the web for tickets, and ended up not being able to get rid of the second of a pair. Once again, a dozen or so First Minnesota Volunteers made the trip to Columbus.
Game day was wet. It rained. It was cold rain. I'm not sure that does justice to just how much rain fell on us during the pre-game tailgating—and again once we were in the stadium. Just for extra wetness, I got separated from the group on the way out and couldn't remember where we parked; I had to walk back to the hotel on my own, continuing to get soaked.
The game was another good performance from the Yanks, taking down Mexico 2-0.
Other memories include: a nice pub for the night-before party; Midwest Airlines serving chocolate-chip cookies; our flight getting canceled the next morning.
